Harold S. "Doc" Triplett

Without Doc Rivertown Farm would not exist. He is the man who made it possible.

We had been looking for a farm for 3 solid years. If we could afford it, it was straight up a hillside. If it had what we needed, we could not afford it. My carriage horse, Moneybags, had been boarded at a stable with no turnout space for 3 years. I so wanted him to have open fields to run in. Someone told me about Doc and I went to meet him. He met me at the door in wifebeater teeshirt and a cigarette in his hand. A large and imposing man to say the least. His first words to me were, "I'm not ready to sell this place" and I replied that I wasn't ready to buy. I secured a stall in the barn and went twice daily to feed and care for Bags. Over time Doc and I became friends.

About a year later Doc became ill and offered me the farm. He offered it to me at a fair price and I tried every way in the world to make it happen but alas, I could not. I went to Doc and thanked him for the offer. He looked at me and asked what I could afford to pay for the place. I told him, and that is the price he set for the farm. He wanted me to have it because he wanted to know that horses would always be on this property. I hope I am able to do the same when it is time.

For now we dedicate this fountain to the memory
of Harold S. "Doc" Triplett.
And I continue to thank him from the bottom of my heart.
